Candling Seasons First Hatch
Last night we candled our first incubator FOR LOCKDOWN and only one egg we found is now likely not viable. We believe this egg started growing and stopped for an unknown reason. There is no blood ring easily identifying the embryo has 100% stopped growing, so for this reason, we will allow the little egg more time and eventually water candle the egg for confirmation.
3 of our eggs were marked as unknown at day 10, and these are now known to have not started. Under these circumstances the eggs can be cracked to visually check the yoke for fertility. On occassions, fertile eggs do not start or progress to hatching.
We are very happy that 39 potential babies out of 48 eggs set are awaiting their welcome into the world in the coming days. Stay tuned for updates and photos. Fertility was above 90 percent. We are candling the second incubator tonight for their day 10 progress check!
